SUPER CHUB - Chubby Chernobyl variation
Cheech - June, 2021
Iremember one trip to the green river that was especially good with big dry flies. It seemed that every fish in the river was eating my fly, which was comprised of a huge chunk of 6mm foam and rubber legs. Every rock or riffle was loaded with a willing brown trout that was hungry for foam, and bad casts were even being approved. I was so thrilled with my invention that I decided to give it a name and add it to my normal rotation - until I searched the internet for the name "Chubby Chernobyl." Yeah, the name was already assigned to another awesome fly. Since then, I have tied a mess of chubbies in a bunch of varieties and they are probably my top confidence fly if I need a big dry that both fishes well and holds up a heavy nymph. This pattern just adds a bit more foam to the head and some fluttery stuff to the wings. Tie them in all the colors you ever dreamed of!
