Iabsolutely hate tying the full version of a split case PMD nymph. It just has way too many steps all packed in to a very small package, and it can get a little bit busy in there. This pattern is about as simple as it gets in regards to tying in a simple wing case that shows up well! One hack is to change up the wing case color to chartreuse, white, or even pink to give the fish something just a little bit different to look at. During the PMD hatch the fish really get keyed in on a dark nymph that has a bright spot on the back. Mix up the colors and go smack 'em.
