Espresso Midge
Cheech - November. 2019
This little fly has been in our bins for a while, but it just dawned on me that we should actually take it out for a spin. The results were as expected and we caught a pile of fish with it! Much like it's non jigged midge pupa brothers, this bug can put some serious fish in the net. I know, I know... It's just basically a zebra midge on a jig hook, so what's so special about it? In my opinion, the ability to add different sizes of beads without compromising the hook gap is critical. On a normal scud hook you have to be pretty careful with the size of your bead so you don't eat up the hook gap, but with a slotted bead on a jig hook, the bulk of the weight sits opposite the hook gap side. Long story short? Add weight, catch fish... The most common colors of this fly are black and claret, but there are no limits to the color combos you can create with it. Happy fishing! ~ Cheech
