South Fork

For the South Fork fishing, the best is yet to come.  Palisades Reservoir is about three quarters full. Flow at Irwin is about 900 cfs and about 1300 cfs at Heise. Streamer fishing is good up and down the river especially under low light conditions. Don’t overlook those rubber leg patterns (fish them deep).  Have some standard nymph patterns in smaller sizes for the riffles. Top water fishing is marginal with midge and BWO activity best in slower moving water and side channels, so have their life cycle patterns in that fly box.   The Dry Beds are open April 1st to 30th for taking fish by hand or with dip nets. Using chemical and electrical methods are illegal. Upper Snake Region bag limits apply.
