Black Pheasant Tail Nymph
Cheech - December, 2021
The Pheasant Tail Nymph has been a staple in most of our boxes for as long as we have fished, except, of course, for Paul in our shop. He assures me that he has been scooping fish and hurting their feelings long before pheasants were even invented. Pheasant tail nymphs are especially cool because you can vary them to match anything from a damsel fly to a swimming mayfly, and you can go as plain or as fancy as you want. This black version was key to me learning how to present a nymph on the Provo River over 20 years ago because it always seemed to at least catch a couple fish! black on black on black. Try it out! Guaranteed you'll tie more than one.
