I only gave it 2 out of 3 because I haven't fished it yet. I was hoping to get it before I volunteered for Casting for Recovery because my net situation was failing me.
Pros: The clip fits many different belts and is easy to take on and off. Brilliant release mechanism allows net to be available instantly. Net hangs nicely out of the way when not in use. Super for medium sized hand nets with flat handles.
Cons: Will not fit nets with round grips or nets that have extra long handles. Also, I wish it had an easy place for attaching a leash or retainer. Finally, some people will not like the “use once” net mount. It looks a bit clunky if you have a beautiful wooden net. And if you have two hand nets, you may need to buy two net mounts.
Used it for the first time today. Worked great. No complaints
My Broder Net Clip arrived last week and I set it up on my net and tested it out the next day on a two day trip on the Bighorn River in South Central Montana. We were floating, but we would get out when we came to pods of rising fish and wade into position to cast to them. The fish in the Bighorn are quite large, and they were rising to midges and BWO's, so we were using very fine tippets. That meant we needed a light touch and a good net to land them. Thanks to my new net clip, my net hung unobtrusively on my left hip while I was presenting the fly and was easily accessible when I came close to landing the fish. The release of the net is smooth and easy, and returning the net to the clip is just as simple. No reaching over your head or wrestling with a net stuck in a sling holster. I'm a Broder Net Clip convert after one trip. It's just a great way to keep a net ready and handy.
Love the net clip!
